Psalm 9.1-8

This psalm guides our gratitude. It shows that one way that we give thanks to the LORD is by recounting all his wonderful deeds.

Genesis 2.4-25

For younger children read at least Genesis 2.24. Take this opportunity to talk about the joys of the mystery of marriage.

For older children you could discuss this note – “God did not make Eve out of nothing or form her directly out of the dust of the ground. By making her from something taken from Adam, God both establishes their relationship within the order of creation and ensures that she will be a helper appropriate to Adam.” The Lutheran Study Bible

Mark 1.29-45

For younger children read at least Mark 1.41 and repeat it so that it might be written on the heart. You might also talk about the problems we have and how Jesus has pity on us

For older children you could discuss this – “Jesus’ first day of public ministry – the Sabbath – is a busy one. Given the endless series of things to which Jesus attends, we sometimes imagine that He is too busy for us and our problems. But Jesus knows and cares for each of us individually.” The Lutheran Study Bible

Write it on the heart verses – Genesis 2.24 and Mark 1.41

Small Catechism for the week: The Address – Our Father who are in heaven. What does this mean? With these words God tenderly invites us to believe that he is our true Father and that we are his true children, so that we may pray to him as boldly and confidently as dear children as their dear father.

Small Catechism question for the day: What do the words who art in heaven say about our Father? Psalm 124.8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
