Psalm 8.-6,9

This is a psalm that invites us to sing. “How majestic is your name in all the earth!” Sing his praise to someone today.

Genesis 1.20-2.3

For younger children read at least Genesis 2.2 and repeat it so that it might be written on the heart. You could also watch this video from the Jesus Story Book Bible on creation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LN-pV4yYIek

For older children you could discuss this note – “God creates (sets aside) the Sabbath. In the OT, Saturday is the Rest (Sabbath) Day. When Christ fulfilled the whole Law (Mt 5.17), He liberated God’s people from the obligation to observe the Sabbath given to the people of Israel.” The Lutheran Study Bible

Mark 1.14-28

For younger children read at least Mark 1.15 and repeat it so that it might be written on the heart. You might also talk about the word ‘repent’. It is a turning of the mind. The Holy Spirit turns us from sin to Jesus!

For older children you could discuss this – “Lord, help us to see You clearly and so believe that Your kingdom is still among us. Move us to a steadfast hope for the future and to daily repentance and new life. Amen.” The Lutheran Study Bible

Write it on the heart verses – Genesis 2.2 and Mark 1.15

Small Catechism for the week: The Address – Our Father who are in heaven. What does this mean? With these words God tenderly invites us to believe that he is our true Father and that we are his true children, so that we may pray to him as boldly and confidently as dear children as their dear father.

Small Catechism question for the day: We pray Our Father… What does the word Our remind us of? Galatians 3.26,27 for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have been clothed with Christ.
