Psalm 12.1-6
This psalm helps us to properly question the words we hear out in the world. There are plenty of lying mouths and faltering lips to ignore.
Genesis 3.1-24
For younger children read at least Genesis 3.15. You may also talk about how Jesus fulfilled this promise by dying on the cross. Here is a video of this account:
For older children you could discuss this note – “There is no way back to Eden. The only way for Adam and Eve and their descendants is forward to the cross.” The Lutheran Study Bible
Mark 2.1-17
For younger children read at least Mark 2.17 and repeat it so that it might be written on the heart. You might also talk about how we sometimes try to hide when we have sinned but Jesus came to find and love us sinners.
For older children you could discuss this – “In the presence of many who doubt his ability, Jesus forgives and heals a paralyzed man simply by speaking the word. Today, there are still some who doubt the power of Jesus’ Word – there will always be such naysayers. But, as Peter reminds us, though our flesh with perish, the Word of the Lord stands forever. (1 1 Pet 1.24-25)” The Lutheran Study Bible
Write it on the heart verses – Genesis 3.15 and Mark 2.17
Small Catechism for the week: The Address – Our Father who are in heaven. What does this mean? With these words God tenderly invites us to believe that he is our true Father and that we are his true children, so that we may pray to him as boldly and confidently as dear children as their dear father.
Small Catechism question for the day: Why does the Father hear our prayers? Romans 8.15 For you did not receive the spirit of slaver to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry “Abba, Father.”
