Psalm 147.1-3,6-11
“It is pleasant and a song of praise is fitting.” When you feel like life is off, like you are missing something, ask, “Have I been singing a some of praise?” Here is one the Church’s songs of praise: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UW889psVIJ4&list=RDUW889psVIJ4&start_radio=1
Job 7.1-21
For younger children read at least Psalm 147.11 and repeat it so that it might be written on the heart. You might also talk about how the fear of the Lord is different than being afraid of God. Part of the fear of the Lord is that we want to please him in all things.
For older children you could read and discuss this – “In his grief and bitter pain, Job turns to God with this desperate cry: ‘Leave me alone’ (v. 16). Painful experiences, such as being diagnosed with a terminal illness or the sudden death of a loved one, can leave us angry with God. By the cross, we understand that God loves us and works through everything in our lies for our salvation (Rm 8.28). in Christ alone, we receive full assurance of God’s love for us.” The Lutheran Study Bible
John 4.7-26
For younger children read at least John 4.13,14 and repeat it so that it might be written on the heart. You might also talk about how important water is for our bodies and how much more important Jesus is for our bodies and souls.
For older children you could discuss this about Jesus pointing out her sin – “The woman is not offended at Christ’s rebuke. She does not leave him and go away – far from it. Her admiration for him is raised… ‘You appear to me to be a prophet.’ And having come to this belief, she does not ask any questions relating to life, health or sickness of the body…She is not troubled about thirst; rather, she is eager to be taught.” John Chrysostom
