Some suggestions for what to share with your kids:
“In a series of seven oracles, the Lord of hosts contrasts His future blessings with the judgment His people had suffered in former days. God was good to Israel, and He has been good to us. We do not deserve His goodness, for there is no merit or worthiness in us. Yet His grace has promises. As people who trust in His mercy, we look forward to a glorious future and seek to serve Him in all we say and do. – Lord, how very good You have been to Your people and to me. Give me a thankful heart, and move me to glorify You in word and deed. Amen.” The Lutheran Study Bible
Here is a decent summary of Paul’s second epistle (letter) to Timothy:
On 2 Timothy: This is Paul’s last known letter, the last of those he wrote which were inspired by the Spirit and included in the Scriptures. He wrote it in 68AD the same year he was executed by beheading in Rome. His farewell letter was written to encourage Timothy to be able to face persecution himself.
If you thought that this could be the last time you would speak to someone, what would you tell them?
Why wait?
